Crickets, Technology, and Upcoming Thunderstorms

Hello, hello, hello!  Welcome, one and all!  It's that time, yet again!  Time for you to humor us by reading our newest insane blog post.  Yay!

We are happy to announce that with your generous blood donations, Nina is making a full recovery (and while this is a funny joke, we actually want to thank you for not sending your blood in the mail.  That would have been gross, but more importantly, that would have drawn more mosquitos to our house, no bueno).

On the gross subject of bugs, we want to introduce you to a few of our new friends.
Ortho Max spray, blog post reader.  Blog post reader, Ortho Max spray.  Don't worry, he may look imitating, but Ortho is actually a bit of a softy.  (Don't tell anyone, but he's afraid of the dark, hence our new night light in our closet).  But despite his night-time phobia, Ortho Max set up a barrier of protection, a barrier of safety, a barrier of peace (little over the top? Naaa...) for us.
Ortho Home Defense MAX Insect Killer Granules
Ortho Home Defense Max, blog reader.  Blog reader...oh, you get the process.  Ortho Max's little brother, Home Defense packs a surprising punch.  Not only does this poison look like innocent rabbit poop, but it also kills crickets on contact.  Who could ask for more?  (If you can ask for more, just go with me here and maybe ask your questions later in our question section, which just happens to still be under construction).
At last, but definitely not least, meet Mr. ElectroZapper.  Apologies to the actual company that made our electric bug zapper, but we forgot your name.  Great product, though!  We have yet to try out our new friend's abilities for killing bugs, but it makes for a great spatula.  Just-a-kidding!  It's actually not that great of a spatula, gets kind of dirty.

Not only has our new pest control system kept all of those Poisonous Nebraskan crickets out of our house, but now there is a trail of dead crickets outside of our apartment.  It's a beautiful sight (not to be morbid or anything...)

Oh yea, we forgot to mention, if you like bugs, or at the very least, don't like the idea of us smashing, poisoning, or otherwise killing crickets (grasshoppers?), you probably shouldn't read the part of this blog that talks about our new Ortho poison control system. (Oh, wait...)

Well, that's it on the bug front.  On a more technological, less-buggy note, we have been preparing for Brian's upcoming school year.  With the explosion of technology in the last few years, Brian is finding amazing resources he will be using in the classroom this year.  For example, with Jing (which sounds like the sound a doorbell makes, right? Jing!) Brian will be able to record instructional videos with a click of a button.  Watch below as Brian records a video of how to use Listhings.com, another time-saving, visual organization website full of potential.

Thank you for humoring us, (or not humoring us if you did not watch the above video.  Or for humoring us, if you have just had a change of heart and watched the video now, just to humor us).  But yea, big picture here?

Technology + Brian's lesson plan = optimistically exciting school year.

Oh, but before we transition back to one of our favorite topics: Nebraska thunderstorms, please take a moment (okay, two moments if you really take your time) to browse Brian's cool Prezi presentation.  Yet another great application that will take center stage in Brian's classroom this year.

Hint= to get the video to work, click on "more" then "autoplay".  It's easier, trust us!
(Brian feels kind of conceited about placing this movie on here, but then again, it's better than placing this video on someone else's blog, right?)

Last topic for the night (or day if you happen to live in East Timor): Lightening.  We think Queen sums it up best:

Directions:

1. To just hear what Queen says about thunderbolts and lightening, please forward the video to 1:36 and watch to 1:40, then stop immediately.

2. If you are interested to hear the rest of the song, well then, go for it! But be forewarned (consider this your forewarning), this is Weird Al Yankovic's rendition of the song. Therefore, if you do not like Weird Al Yankovic, go back to step 1.

Long story (or song in this case) short=

Nebraskan thunder storms= very, very frightening.  (On a separate tangent, why are they called thunder storms?  Aren't the lightening bolts the coolest parts?  Jeesh, thunder, way to take all of the thunder).

Why do we speak of such fearful, thrilling things during this blog post?  Well, according to accuweather.com, wunderground.com, weather.com, and forecast.weather.gov, we are in for several different, major, powerful thunderstorms tomorrow.  But who knows for sure, that's only four credible weather sites giving the same warning. Maybe they are all wrong...

So wish us luck for tomorrow,

(Just like this)

And we will keep you posted (would you expect anything less from us?)

Until next time!
